The same News outlet goes on to quote the Iranian news agency IRNA which reported that the regime launched the missiles from a Silos in several locations throughout the Iranian state.
The explanation given by the Iranian regimes was to demonstrate "deterrence power" and the terror regime readiness to confront outside threat. Their State TV proceeded in showing footage of the entire operation with the missiles in underground silos alongside flashes of light from nighttime launches.
This, of course should put into question the Obama administration insistence on breaking a bad deal with this regime who has no intention of halting their nuclear bomb activity. This recent test was probably test the readiness of their launching pads and silos so that when their nuke war head is ready, they will already have proper launching pad ready to go to launch war heads.
