Gulf States worried by Obama passivity on Syria

With Obama's reluctance to green light a military strike on Assad's assets in Syria, many Arab leaders in the Gulf have started questioning the U.S resolve in confronting Iran's nuclear ambition. If the Obama's Administration can not even show a bit of muscle against the Syrian dictator who is slaughtering his own people like they were sheeps, how can they expect him to deal with Iran who would be a much tougher opponent.

Of course, the Iranians are watching Obama's every movement in Syria with great interest and concerns since it could give them an idea of what to expect when it comes time to pivot and deal with Iran's nuclear sprint toward the bomb. Now that the prospect for military strike against Assad is vanishing, the Iranians have good cause to celebrate since it hints at a lack of resolve and strength to deal with tyrants when they misbehave.

The Jerusalem-Post recent article "Gulf States question US resolve on Iran", seems to suggest growing anxiety among the Gulf Arab Monarchies Kingdom concerning The Obama Administration handling of Syria. It is obvious to them that a weaken Assad equals a weaken Iran, thus their support for military action against Assad, but it doesn't look like Obama is listening much. Instead, it looks like he's come to an agreement with the Russian that would exclude a military strike against Assad...Of course, we all know the Russian main goal is to protect Assad and prevent his Dictatorship from collapsing under hundreds of U.S ballistic missiles who'd be falling on Assad's men like billions of  acid rain drops.

Hassan Rouhani wins election BUT....

Hassan Rouhani, a little known cleric who worked under former president Katami administration has been declared the winner of Iran's election BUT he will of course have no power to change a thing since the supreme dictator holds all the power on all important matters.

Nevertheless, it should be interesting to see how Rouhani goes about serving the interest of those who voted for him and the more hard-line radicals who did not vote for him but still control most of the political power in the Islamic Republic.

I must say that I was surprised the hard-liners did not rigg the election to make sure no moderate like Rouhani wins...It appears they lost so much legitimacy after the 2009 election that they had to do something to try to regain the people confidence in the political system.
